Gran Turismo 5 Demo Hits December 17



Announced just hours ago on the PlayStation EU Blog, GT Academy 2010 will be held in a brand new demo of Gran Turismo 5 hitting the PlayStation Store on December 17, 2009. The demo will feature a stock and tuned version of the Nissan 370Z, and, while Sony has decided not to release the track just yet, I have been aware of the competition for some time now and GTPlanet can reveal the demo will include either Spa Francorchamps or the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However, Sony described the track as a “specially created section of a new Gran Turismo 5 circuit”, which suggests to me it’s the Indianapolis GP Circuit, as it is quite literally a “section” of a larger circuit. (Let’s not forget it was also the big track prominently shown in Gran Turismo 5’s E3 2009 trailer.)

The GT Academy competition will work much like it did last time, only it’s expanded to include all of the countries listed after the jump – though if you’re from the United States like myself, don’t bother looking. Although it’s more than a little disheartening to be left out ofthe competition for a second time, Sony’s blog post assures us that countries not included in GT Academy will still get to try out the demo. Bring on the 17th!

UPDATE: A few more specifics have been announced on the GT Academy Facebook page: anyone who has ever held a national or international racing license or who is under the age of 18 is exempt from the competition. It will begin on December 17th and will end of January 24th, and will consist of two “stages”, each featuring new circuits:

Stage One – will offer Gran Turismo fans a sneak preview of the hotly-anticipated Gran Turismo 5 game, due for release during 2010. Competitors will record flying laps on a time trial-based track available via PlayStationNetwork, accessed through PS3. Unlike the first GTAcademy, participants will not have to enter the competition using the GT5 PrologueTM game itself, and so even more hopeful racing drivers are expected to take part.

Stage Two – the holders of the twenty fastest online lap times from each participating country will qualify for their national final event. Tensions will run high as they battle each other on another exclusiveGran Turismo 5 level for the chance to move to the next phase of the competition.

Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series, shares Wijnen’s enthusiasm. “This has been a very rewarding partnership. The whole GTAcademy concept is very close to my heart. Our target with the Gran Turismo series has always been to come as close as possible to a real driving experience. To witness the level of driving achieved by GT players after a relatively short space of time at the GT Academy was very satisfying for me and I look forward to seeing the 2010 finalists in action. I am also very happy to have the opportunity for our GT community to have a preview of theGran Turismo 5 game.”

The online section of the game will run from 17 December until 24 January with national finals following soon afterwards. The GTAcademy itself takes place from 26 February until 3 March. The two winners will have to quickly clear their diaries, as their intensive training programme will start immediately and culminate in one driver racing in the opening European GT4 Cup race that could be at Silverstone on 2 May.

UPDATE 2: The prizes offered for United States and Canadian residents has also just been announced. The fastest players from each country will be offered VIP access to the 2010 Indianapolis 500 race. For more details, see the official rules here.

索尼宣佈《GT5》跳票



索尼電腦娛樂日本公司（SCEJ）日前宣佈，由於製作方Polyphony Digital的開發進度原因，PS3平臺競速神作“真實駕駛模擬器”《GT5》 將無法在原定的今年3月于日本市場上市。索尼在官方新聞稿中向玩家表示了歉意，但並未宣佈新的上市日期。

去年9月，山內一典在東京電玩展索尼發佈會上親自宣佈《GT5》將於2010年3月上市。去年年底又透露歐美市場上市日期為2010年夏。上周，索尼甚至公布了《GT5》歐版和美版的包裝盒封面官方圖。但本周接踵而來的卻是跳票的消息。

歐美媒體咨詢索尼得到的回答是，此次延期僅影響日本市場，也就是說歐美上市時間仍是“今夏”。

《GT5》用到PS3八成效能

Polyphony Digital的山內一典在接受某網站的採訪時表示，開發第一部GT作品只需7-15人，至GT5時代已膨脹至140人。

首部作品中的車模僅由300個多邊形構成，現在每輛車都花費了50萬個多邊形；以前，遊戲中的車輛就像是符號，現在它栩栩如生且能反射環境光。

《神秘海域2》的開發商Naughty Dog曾誇口自己這部作品已將PS3的威力釋出八成，山內表示《GT5》的水平與此相當，也用到了80%左右，PS3的威力深不可測，手段越高明，效能越出眾。

《GT5》花了5年時間來開發，如有後繼版本，如果還是PS3平臺，應該比現在更容易。每部作品發後后山內都會懊悔不已，因為他是完美主義者。



至於SCE所展示的體感裝置，山內認為它更適合用來構建風味完全不同的遊戲。

至於《GT6》，各方面都懸而未決。且《GT5》的發售日期還有所延誤，但SCE表示延誤的是日版發布，海外市場不受影響，因為公司尚未決定海外版的發布日期。

山內一典本月早些時候接受《今日美國》的採訪時稱該作只完成了90%：“遊戲大概完成了九成，我們正在收拾剩下的10%並潤色每樣事物。”

原來該作延期事出有因。

另有報道指索尼正在開發《GT5》的3D版，計劃與他們的3D電視一同推出，預計這套組合可于今年晚些時候面市，所需的3D眼鏡如下圖所示：

GT5 2.0更新內容出爐



Hello Gran Turismo fans,

When Gran Turismo 5
launched almost a year ago now, Kazunori Yamauchi, the game’s creator,
promised fans clutching their copies of the Real Driving Simulator, that
the launch of the eagerly awaited title was not the end of the journey
for the game but the start.

True to that statement, since GT5 launched
Yamauchi-san and the Polyphony team have been closely monitoring the
feedback of the dedicated and discerning GT5 community. As a result of
this, we have seen significant support for GT5 in the form of regular functionality updates.

Today, I am very pleased to announce details of Functionality Update
2.0 which is the most sizable since the game launched. The update will
be available for download on the 11^th October. Of course the real bonus of all of this new content is the fact that it’s all absolutely free!

Here’s the rundown on what you can expect to see in the update.

Firstly all ‘standard’ cars will now feature an interior view, the
level of detail will vary from car to car, but now for the first time
you will be able to literally get behind the wheel of all the cars in the game.





Next is the great news that players can now save their progress
during endurance races and return to the fray at a time of their own
choosing.

For fans of the stateside motoring championship NASCAR, there is a
package of 11 NASCAR 2011 cars. There has also been improvement to the
weather settings in the game and now players can incrementally adjust
weather settings for race start and race end.



Additional features of this update are:

• Photo Travel Mode updates
  
• Shortening of load times and improved menu response
  
• Improved car physics simulation, further evolved A.I.
  
• Improved and enhanced user interface
  
• Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheels
  
• New features in the Online Lounge

The coming Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2 update is an update that
contains the feedback from the users playing GT5 online every day. We
have added cars such as the newest NASCAR race cars, but many of the
updates are those that improve usability and expand the field of game
play. I believed from the initial release of Gran Turismo 5 that it
would be the users that would make the game grow thereafter, and we
added things like interior views for the standard models because there
was a lot of request for it from our users. You could say that this
update is the shape and form of GT5 that was created through the
opinions of our fans.

As if this massive update was not enough, I can also advise you of
more great news – very shortly we will be sharing with you details of a
forthcoming package of exciting DLC for GT5 that will include new
vehicles and tracks plus a host of other additional new content. The
news will be incoming to PlayStation Blog and gran-turismo.com very soon
so keep your ear to the ground.

GT5一歲啦!

GT5推出一年已經推出了13個免費更新, 並有一個包含15架車的及兩條賽道的DLC, 而且12月中及之後每兩個月亦會迎來另一個DLC, 相信GT5還有一段長時間的發展.

GT5 2.03及新DLC內容釋出!

終於新的GT5 DLC又來了, 而且今次的汽車包有很多人都想GT5都有的Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4! 另外, 新DLC亦有一條叫Route X直路加速賽道, 而詳細的內容如下:

Apparent information about Gran Turismo 5′s third round of DLC has appeared here in GTPlanet’s forums. According to “Space Empire”, GT5′s 2.03 update will be launched on January 18th, and will include a few of the following new changes and features:

New themes for My Home in GT Mode.
An option for tire wearing in Pit Strategy (B-spec).
Simulates regenerative braking on electric cars.
Chaparral 2J Race Car ’70: Fan down force option.
Fixed unintended pit stop error in the final lap of a B-spec race.
12 new colors and 12 new wall papers for My Home theme.
Electric cars run slowly without applying acceleration.
Regenerative braking affects the cruising distance.



New downloadable content packs will, reportedly, also become available. The “Speed Test Pack” will include the new “Special Stage Route X Oval” revealed in the recent Honda NSX Concept video, and Car Pack 3 will include the following new vehicles:

Edit: This information has now been confirmed by the Asia/Hong Kong official PlayStation site, with the car pack (Car Pack 3) priced at approximately $5 (47HK$) and the “Speed Test Pack” containing Route X priced at approximately $4 (31HK$).
